Helpful Tips & Answers. What should I do when I lose power to my building or home?
What should I do if you lose power to the refrigerator?
Do you know that, if you hire someone that is not licensed and insured and they are injured while working for you they may look to you for damages.
Some common Questions & Answers: Q. Could you tell me if I need an electrical permit to install under counter lighting in my kitchen? A. It may be ok as long as the fixtures can be plugged in. Any new wiring for these fixtures should have an electrical permit. It is easier to say what you CAN do without a permit, than list the items that require an inspection. You are allowed to change a switch or dimmer and install a fixture on an existing outlet. Of course you can plug in any portable lighting or equipment. Any permanently mounted wiring should be permanently wired and inspected. Q. We have recently purchased a new copy machine for our office. We notice that when the machine is on the overhead lights blink. Do you know what causes this? A. We have found many instances where the wall outlets and overhead lights are on the same circuit. To correct this problem you may want to install a dedicated circuit to the copy machine. Q. Our insurance company is asking for a thermo graphic survey of our electrical distribution equipment. Would you tell me what is involved in the test? A. Thermo graphic testing involves using an inferred thermometer. We will open your electrical equipment and measure the temperature of the wire connections, circuit breakers and switches. The temperatures are recorded and show potential overheating problems. We use this as a form of preventative maintenance. When you are going to attempt to perform your own electrical repair, there a few important precautions you should take:
When trimming trees, hanging holiday lights or repairing roofs and gutters make sure you are aware of the power lines in the area and avoid them. Aluminum ladders conduct electricity.
